The english cemetery


ENGLISH CEMETERY  

  History

  Early ninethteen century, Malaga had his new cemeteries but they only have room for catholics. And the protestants residents hasn't got any place to bury their dead non-Catholics deceased are burried at night in any discreet place such us preferential use near by beaches, where bodys are soon washed ashore on to the sun.

  After that, the british consult William Mark fought forget a proper burial for the english people deceased. And after years the april 11th, 1838 by the royal order of King Ferdinant VII built an area for burial the Anglicans persons.

  In the cemetery there are 5 different nationalities: Spanish, French, Germans, Angelicans and Canadiens.

  The name of the cemetery is St. George Anglican Church.

  The opening time of the cemetry are from 9:30am to 14:30pm Tuesday to Saturday and from 10:00am to 13:00pm Saturdays.

  At the beginning on the right of the cemetery. 

  The general consult of the USA is buried there is called Edward J. Norton.

  Robert Boyd was executed at the "Playa de San Andrés" in the 11/12/1831 and he is buried in the cemetery. He died for defended the contitution and the liberty of the Spanish village.

  In the cemetery there are four military and his jobs were sergent, flying officer and commander.





  In the middle on the right there is Gerald Brenan, the famous "Amigo de España" writer. He borned in Malta (1894). And he died in Alhaurin el Grande in 1987. His wife called Gamel Woosley Brenan and she is bury with her husband.

  In the middle on the left of the cemetery, there is a Canadian married couple buried: Ethel Mabel Miles and George Gordon Miles.

  The St. Augustine's quotation is written on Alfred Cecil Gee's tombstone.

  Thou hasn't created has for thyself and our heart cannont be quieted till it may find repose in thee.

 There are also a master painter buried in the cemetery was called Thomas William Jacques. And he lived in the XX century.
